There's nothing sweeter than a Mommy & Me session, except maybe a Daddy & Me session.
All too often, Mom acts as the photographer of family memories, always behind the camera, never in the photos. I personally know this to be true, which is why I'm on a quest to shoot as many Moms and Nanas as I can get in front of my camera.
Mommy & Me portrait sessions are special & intimate; the results make great gifts for Dad, grandparents, godparents, friends or Mom herself. The photos can be given out over the holidays or as a “just-because” gift any time of the year.
This Mother's Day, I decided to have a contest and give away a shoot - the lucky winners were Lacey and her adorable son, Garland. We spent some time at a local park taking random shots then, we staged Mom. When I said, "sit on the apple box and let me take some shots of just you", she had the same reaction most moms do...which is something sort of like, "oh no no...not today...I just wanted pictures of [son, daughter, pet, the rose bush...you name it], "...it's not about me today."
My question is, "when is it about you?"
This is what happens when you become a Mommy - it's not about you anymore and that's understandable for any Mommy but, I'm here to tell you - you need to make time to MAKE IT ABOUT YOU.
20, 30, or even 40 years from now, Garland will be all grown up and will have these images to show his own family and friends . Not to mention, what woman does not want a gorgeous portrait of herself? Hmmm?
